Montréal, June 19, 2012 – UK’s Health and Safety Laboratory (HSL) and Quebec’s Institut de recherche Robert-Sauvé en santé et en sécurité du travail (IRSST) have ratified a new five-year partnership framework agreement.
Objectives
As in earlier agreements signed since 2005, this new agreement sets forth the principles of a bilateral cooperative initiative that will allow both institutions to share human, financial, and physical resources in order to increase their respective capacity to produce and transfer knowledge arising from their research and expertise activities, explained Marie Larue, President and CEO of the IRSST, and Eddie Morland, Chief Executive of HSL.
Machine safety
The two executives also agreed to sign a new specific cooperation agreement regarding machine safety. The IRSST and HSL will work together primarily to carry out a research project involving a practical experimentation of risk estimation tools and parameters applied to safety of machinery.
Both organizations pursue the mission of contributing, through research, to the prevention of industrial accidents and occupational diseases.
