Determined to help enhance safety and health awareness associated with construction of reinforcing steel columns, industry leaders, regulators and academic experts are working together to develop simple and practical guidelines on methods of analysis for erecting and placing reinforcing cages on construction sites.

Dr. Ahmad M. Itani is a Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Nevada, Reno. He is registered Civil
Engineer in the States of California and Nevada and Structural Engineer in the State of California. Professor Itani investigated the
seismic behavior of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge, Richmond San Rafael Bridge, the Mascone Center and UCLA hospital.
He worked as a bridge engineer in the Earthquake Engineering Office at the California Department of Transportation in 1991-1994.
